Brenden Franks is a 2019 3B/RHP, 1B with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from State College, PA who attends State College Area. Large, broad shouldered build with present physical strength proportioned throughout frame. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front with some bend at waist, quick transfer out of the glove and works to an extended release, shows accuracy across the diamond, overall actions will continue to develop. Also pitched, side step moving into delivery with full hand raise over head, hip turn at top and works to a high three-quarters release point. Upper body dominant release, generates short running life on fastball when down in the zone and maintained out of stretch, topped out at 84 mph. On line coming down the mound and filled the zone. Has a feel for curveball with 11-5 shape up to 75 mph and showed ability to back door the pitch; flashed a changeup at 70 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a double toe tap trigger for timing. Keeps hands inside through swing with a full path through the zone, projects to unlock additional strength with extension out front. Upper body dominant swing, creates lift out front and shows jump off the barrel when squared and out front. Excellent student.
