Matt Burke is a 2018 OF/LHP with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Weddington, NC who attends Weddington High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically. Posted an impressive 6.83 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary outfielder, moved well through the ball, gained momentum, with a quick arm. Top velocity from the outfield of 86 mph with carry on throws. At the plate, started with a narrow base, open stance, and a toe tap timing mechanism. Inside hand path with a swing that worked up through the zone. Pull oriented approach and a swing that worked through the upper half. Will continue to improve with additional lower half in swing. Also pitched, hid the ball well, online delivery, deception in delivery, compact arm circle, and threw from a three quarter arm slot. Drives to plate well with extension down the mound. Mature approach to pitching and was aggressive with fastball. Fastball worked 78-82 mph with arm side life and sink. Graded out better on the mound. Good student.
