Matthew Voiklis is a 2020 C/OF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Commack, NY who attends Commack High School. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame, additional room to fill. Ran a 5.30 40-yard dash. Primary catcher, begins with a narrow base in crouch behind plate, gains ground with lower half, stays tall through mechanics and release, can continue to increase momentum moving into throws, higher release point on accurate throws to second base, gets on top well. Righthanded hitter, begins with a spread stance in the box and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Subtle shift through lower half, shows balance throughout; hands start tight but does a nice job of creating extension out front. Looseness to hands and repeats mechanics, showed comfort and best contact when working pull side, creates sound bat speed at point of contact. Very good student.
