JJ Palumbo is a 2023 C/IF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Westbury, NY who attends W Tresper Clarke. Compact, medium frame with some strength throughout and room to fill out. Recorded a 7.27 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary catcher that received from a lower, side-saddled stance with soft hands and an extremely quick mid-line transfer. Gains ground with slight uphill movements, quickness to his footwork and into a fairly quick release. Recorded online, accurate throws with developing arm strength up to 67 mph. Secondary infielder with quickness to his feet, a clean funnel out in-front and good lateral range to either side. Showed ability to change arm angles when necessary and recorded arm strength up to 77 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that hits from a slightly open stance with a high, tight hand set and toe-tap trigger. Compact, flatter swing path with rotational lower half mechanics and consistent contact. Showed best impact to the middle and opposite fields, while showing the ability to translate his swing in-game. Produced multiple well-struck balls during game action and will continue to improve with minor adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
