Tommy Briner is a 6'1" 170 pound 2007 right handed pitcher and infielder from Redding, California who attends Foothill Hills High School. He has a good athletic pitchers body which is very projectable as well. Tommy topped out at 83 mph with his fastball showing good arm speed and strength. He is somewhat compact with his delivery and is very fluid with a good finish out front. His breaking ball at 70 mph was a projectable pitch that he throws very hard. During the workout, Briner threw 76 mph across the infield and ran a very good 7.03 60 with long strides. Tommy has an average base at the plate and doesn’t use a stride at all. He turns his hips very well and shows very good bat control to all fields.He made hard contact and showed the ability to the center the ball on the barrell of the bat very well. He ran hard on the bases and was aggressive enough to take third base on a shallow fly ball to center field when most runners would have been content staying at second base. Tommy is a good student as well with a 3.67 gpa.
