Darren Kilpatrick is a 2017 RHP/SS with a 6-4 160 lb. frame from Fairfax, IA who attends Prairie HS. Tall very slender build, narrow bone structure. Compact arm action with a quick stab in back, hides the ball well, high 3/4's arm slot, will fall off to the first base side on release at times, works exclusively from the stretch. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, consistent velocity and he threw it for strikes, good release out front on his fastball, mostly straight with occasional cutting action glove side. Used a hard knuckleball as his change up and it was interesting and well disquised. Lowers his release slot on his curveball but does a good job locating it and could use the pitch more often. Competed well. Right handed hitter with a short downward swing, pull approach. Excellent student.
