Mason Buck is a 2017 OF with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Sulphur Springs, TX who attends Sulphur Springs High School. Extra-large, athletic frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable frame with plenty of room to fill moving forward. Very sound runner, posted a 6.68 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well to the ball and takes an extra step at release, fields the ball tall and remains upright at release, works to a compact arm action through the back, shows quickness to arm and strength out of the hand with accuracy to the bag, projects for more with additional lower half. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and high back elbow in the box. Upright stance, stays inside the ball and uses a leg lift trigger for timing. Upper body dominant swing, stays short to the ball with swing path, simple load at start of swing, contact approach which will play with speed, occasional uphill to swing plane. Very good student.
