Michael Simonello is a 2020 RHP/2B, OF with a 5-8 175 lb. frame from Titusville, FL who attends Astronaut. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects for additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with who worked from the stretch. Medium leg lift and worked to balance point quickly. Utilized drop and drive lower half actions while working to the plate. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball created some downhill plane through the zone in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Maintained arm speed with a curveball offering that had 11/5 shape. Curveball created solid spin out of hand with good depth in the mid 60's. Consistently looked to challenge hitters and induce weak contact. Also worked out defensively from the outfielder displayed smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels baseball out front and worked through exchange with loose actions. Released from a high three-quarters slot generating uphill carry to the bag at 71 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, slightly closed stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended hand path to baseball with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Displayed developing feel for the barrel throughout the zone while employing a mid field approach. Flashed some jump off the barrel when on time and squared. Good student.
