John Moore is a 2020 RHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Newton, MA who attends Newton North High School. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 5.06 40-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, works exclusively out of the stretch, higher leg lift up past belt before clean take back with which he hides the ball well. Full arm action with mid three-quarters release point, does a nice job of working on top of the ball and creating plane. Fastball topped out at 83 mph, showed life through the zone and ability to miss bats. Flashed a curveball at 69 mph for strikes. Showed nice arm strength at first base, shorter steps off the bag, fields the ball out front, quick actions and gets on top of throws well. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Shorter stroke through the zone and does a nice job of creating contact out front. Stays compact with mechanics, short follow through and projects with additional extension to overall path. Very good student.
