Brooks Barney is a 2016 LHP/1B with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Washignton, UT who attends Pine View. Barney has a medium sized frame with some strength. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a medium length arm action. Barney works from the stretch and attacked hitters with his fastball. He likes to pitch inside and he has some deception to his delivery. Barney changed speeds effectively and located his off speed pitches well. He throws a 12/6 curveball with tight spin and bite to it. His curveball is a swing and miss pitch. Barney also throws a change up at 67 MPH and showed very good feel for it. He's a pitchability lefty and disrupted hitters timing well. Defensively, he showed solid 1B actions with nice hands. At the plate, he starts with a slightly open stance with a wide base. He looks to pull the ball and made solid line drive contact. Barney has an aggressive approach and swings hard. He has solid hitting tools with some power potential. Solid two-way player, excellent student.
