2015 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Christopher Collins is a 2016 3B/RHP, 1B with a 6-3 235 lb. frame from Chandler, AZ who attends Hamilton HS. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and strong, well proportioned mature build. Ran a 7.46 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, shows a lower slot on throws across the diamond, accurate with some strength, footwork will continue to develop but takes long strides to either side, fields out front with a wide base. Also pitched, short and compact arm action through the back to a three-quarter arm slot. Side step into delivery, full hand path with a simple leg raise. Quick arm, topped at 82 mph and gets on top of fastball, steady running life to arm side. Attacks and fills up with fastball, flashed a slider at 75 mph and fading changeup at 71 mph. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and slight bar with hands pulled back. Quick hands generate solid bat speed, gets the barrel through the zone and strongly to the ball. Simple and repeatable mechanics with consistent jump and carry to opposite field, whips the barrel and shows lift at contact. Named to West Coast Top Prospect List.
