Thomas Hughes is a 2020 1B/OF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Runnemede, NJ who attends Triton High School. Medium, square shouldered frame with present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 5.50 40-yard dash. Primary first baseman, does a nice job of fielding the ball out front, wide base, short steps coming off the bag, shows a quick exchange and release after gather and reads hops well, can continue to incorporate additional lower half into release on throws. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an upright stance in the box and a medium hand set. Patient approach and utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate; full path through the zone and remains linear at point of contact. Upper body dominant swing, shows comfort turning on the ball with steady line drive contact coming off. Very good student.
