2016 Mid Atlantic Underclass Showcase
Philip Bernstein is a 2018 OF/2B with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Brooklyn, NY who attends Berkeley Carroll High School. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.46 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes short steps moving towards the build, fields the ball out front and uses a crow hop to generate momentum into release, full arm action through the back, gets on top of throws, arm strength and carry will continue to develop. Similar approach up the middle with short steps to the ball, fields the ball out front and shows a short arm action on throws across, slight effort but gets on top and shows accuracy. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high back elbow in the box, uses a high leg lift trigger while striding into contact. Upper body dominant swing, shows a natural feel for the barrel and regularly finds it in live action. Middle of the field approach and swing allows for the execution, line drive contact off the barrel and shows nice bat speed through the zone, regularly on time with leg lift and shows balance to swing. Good student. Named to Mid Atlantic Underclass Top Prospect List.
