Nathan Massey is a 2018 C/3B with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Columbia, TN who attends Spring Hill HS. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physicality to frame, additional room to fill moving forward. Ran a 7.31 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, begins with a lower set behind the plate, receives the ball out front, quick exchange and transfer, gets tall prior to release, overall footwork will continue to develop and will gain additional ground, short and compact arm action through the back. Also pitched, worked with similar short arm action with a tight release while throwing from a three-quarters release point. Begins with a big rock step and shows rhythm to delivery with leg lift up above belt, gets extended out the mound. Fastball topped out at 80 mph and filled strike zone while flashing slider with 10-4 shape at 72 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright and open stance in the box, high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Upper body dominant swing, full path through the zone and looks to generate lift out front at point of contact. Able to create bat speed through the zone with a high finish through contact, connected for a home run to his pull side in live action and projects with additional lower half. Good student.
