2016 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Adam Barrett is a 2016 OF/LHP with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Council Bluffs, IA who attends Abraham Lincoln HS. Medium athletic build, has the room to get stronger. Good runner, 6.89 in the sixty, has some fast twitch athletic actions. Right handed hitter, spread stance with a limited shift and stride, could use his lower half better to help generate bat speed but stays balanced well. has quick hands and flashes some strength at the plate and the ability to drive the ball into the gaps, sees the ball well and will hit to all fields. Solid fundamentals in the outfield, charges the ball hard and has good footwork and balance, arm strength still developing but makes accurate throws. Also pitched, leg raise delivery with some back lean at his balance point, regains momentum and direction well, tight 3/4's release point, hides the ball well and throws strikes. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, mostly straight, showed some feel for a fading change up and tight curveball, got quick outs and a successful outing. Good student, signed with Marshalltown CC.
