Justin Montenegro is a 2021 MIF/OF with a 5-4 120 lb. frame from Sugar Hill, GA who attends North Gwinnett. Young, projectable frame with square shoulders and a lean build with room to fill throughout moving forward and has time to do so. Ran an 8.41 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front and shows athleticism on the charge coming in, shows some footwork and comfort working through the backhand, quick transfer and release on throws across with arm strength that will continue to develop moving forward, accurate to first base. Charges well in the outfield and attacks the ball, developing actions and footwork, sound transfer and follows through well. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate, employs a contact oriented approach at the plate. Full path through the zone and shows sound mechanics with a feel for the barrel. Bat speed will continue to come along with strength, shows comfort working to the middle of the field with line drive contact coming off when squared. Very good student.
