Austin Maciel is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Fort Collins, CO who attends Rocky Mountain HS. Medium athletic frame, plenty of room to get stronger. Hunched over compact delivery, uses lower half well to generate power to the plate but still gets downhill, repeats his mechanics, low effort delivery with a loose arm coming through, stays on top of the ball well. Fastball topped out at 83 mph, works fastball in and out and hits spots. Nice downer curveball with some depth, flashed a straight change up. Threw strikes with all three pitches and mixed his pitches well and was effective. 6.95 runner, sound actions in the outfield, moves to the ball well. Right handed hitter, long swing with some drift into contact, has some bat speed and lift in his swing, made hard contact in the games. Showed sound instincts and fundamentals in all areas. Good student.
