2015 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Blake Baumgartner is a 2016 3B/SS with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Stevenson Ranch, CA who attends West Ranch HS. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and a lean build with additional room to fill out. Ran a 7.36 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, glove plays at the ball, easy and under control to the ball with athletic actions overall and on feet, longer release but easy, ball comes out of hand well from short and lower arm slot. Right-handed hitter, starts with a high hand set and back elbow and a narrow stance. Short stride with lower half into contact and remains short with bat path to the ball. Line drive swing plane, occasionally drifts to front side early but has a feel for the barrel and fluidity in swing. Shows extension out front at times, sound mechanics with a line drive approach and ability to his to all fields with intent. Excellent student.
