Matthew Griffith is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Sioux Center, IA who attends Unity Christian HS. Slender young build, projects well physically. 6.97 runner, has loose actions on defense with a projectable arm that works well, will over stride occasionally on throws, speed should increase as he gets stronger with the potential to play centerfield. Right handed hitter, open stance, tends to stay open and hit on his heals, arm bar load, long and loose rotational swing, has some present bat speed with the potential for more, frame and tools are there to hit with some swing adjustments and additional strength. Also pitched, side step delivery with some drive and energy to the plate, mid 3/4's arm slot. Low 80's fastball, topped out at 82 mph, slider showed good power and spin and could end up being a quality pitch. Has potential on the mound as a 2-way player. Interesting young athlete. Good student.
