Ricky Tibbett is a 2019 RHP/IF with a 6-2 167 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Eastlake HS. Tall and lanky pitcher's build, lots of physical projection remaining. Simple side step/leg raise delivery, compact 3/4's arm slot and lands slightly closed out front, smooth and easy delivery he repeats well. Fastball topped out at 87 mph, can throw his fastball to spots on both sides of the plate, mostly straight with occasional running action. Curveball has good 11/5 shape and some spin and bite, developing feel for his change up. Mixes his pitches well and throws strikes. 7.45 runner, showed his athleticism well on defense with sound infield actions and footwork and a very quick release on his throws. Right handed hitter, hits from a tall open stance with a high hand start, short and simple approach, swings hard and creates bat speed, loose out front, gap to gap power. Two-way prospect who should continue to get better. Good student, verbal commitment to San Diego State.
