Akiyoshi Buckson is a 2016 RHP/OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Silverdale, WA who attends Central Kitsap. Medium athletic frame with good present build and projection for more. Ran very well, posting a 6.75 seconds 60-yard dash. Pitches exclusively from the stretch, shows long arm action to high 3/4 slot, gets downhill well with solid plane, some drop and drive in mechanics with good lower half usage. Fastball worked 83-86, touching 87, with good command to both sides of the plate. Flashed a very good CB with sharp, deep 11/5 break. Showed slider as well in the high 70's with tight, short break and good swing-and-miss potential. Showed straight CH as well with good deception. Hits from open stance, closes well, has some bat waggle, deep load to back side, shows good strength off the barrel with middle-to-opposite field contact. Aggressive approach with projectable pop. Athletic actions in the OF, moves to ball well and fields cleanly, works through it, good arm strength with carry and accuracy topping at 89 MPH. Named to 2015 Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
