Casey Slattery is a 2017 1B/LHP with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Los Angeles, CA who attends Harvard-Westlake. Large frame, lean build with long, lean limbs, has room to fill out, continue to add strength. Left handed hitter, upright stance, high hand set. Small leg lift trigger, gets spread at contact, shows good present bat speed and ability to whip the barrel. Natural loft at contact from fluid swing path, gets extended well and ball comes off well from the barrel. Stays balanced throughout swing, power approach with impact potential. Primary first baseman, fields out in front, shows solid footwork around the base, moves pretty well to either side. Fields of front, nice hands with ability to vary arm slots. Also pitched, leg lift to just below the belt. Works to a 3/4's arm slot, long arm swing with some presentation and wrap on the backside. Fastball up to 78 mph, some natural tailing life. Flashed solid feel and arm-action, deception on changeup. Also worked in occasional sweeping breaking ball. Good student.
