Widiel Soto Morales is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-0 206 lb. frame from Toa Alta, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and strength throughout frame. Primary righthanded pitcher, works with a fast tempo to delivery and quickly gets into medium leg lift before generate good extension out front and landing online. Arm action is clean coming through the back and works to a high three-quarters arm slot, able to create occasional downhill plane with heavy life on fastball, topped at 81 mph but gets on hitters quickly. More velocity to come with additional use of lower half. Some sinking life to fastball, showed a straight changeup at 68 mph and flashed an 11-5 curveball, will have to work on maintaining arm speed at release. Good student.
