Mason Thompson is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Eastlake HS. Has a projectable frame with signs of strength, more to fill out physically as he continues to put on even more strength. On the mound, stays slightly tuck through delivery with good deception, hides the baseball well. Throws from a mid three-quarters arm slot with good run on his fastball. Changeup showed late fade out of the zone. From the infield, showed athletic actions at first base with soft hands. At the plate, starts with an open stance and high back elbow. Showed separation through load with a leg lift trigger. Fires his hands at the baseball while flashing bat speed, showed some pop to the pull side with natural lift through contact. Good student.
