David Hanners Jr is a 2018 2B/RHP, C, SS with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Brooks, GA who attends Grace Christian. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Ran a 7.18 sixty-yard dash. Primary second baseman with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball out front and worked through exchange quickly. Throws produced accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 72 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Stays on back side with rotational lower half actions to contact. Hands work to a slightly lower slot before working to baseball on a loose, uphill plane through extension. Consistently repeated swing actions well and flashed solid jump off the barrel to the middle of the field between the gaps. Also pitched working exclusively from the stretch. Simple leg lift and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Medium arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters to near over top arm slot. Fastball created occasional downhill tilt through the zone topping at 70 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with loose spin and some depth in the mid 50's. Looked to fill the zone while effectively challenging hitters. Very good student as well.
