2016 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Thomas Haugen is a 2017 OF/2B with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Kieler, WI who attends Wahlert HS. Mediurm frame, solid build with present strength. Right handed hitter with a balanced, bent knee stance, high back elbow set and a leg lift trigger. Rotational lower half actions with some shift into contact. Line drive swing path with some loft. Swings with intent to drive the ball through the gaps. Extendeds through baseball well with strength. Shows bat speed and ability to turn barrel head when using pull side gap. Worked out defensively from the infield and outfield. From the outfield shows an aggresive, athetlic close to baseball. Smooth arm circle back with a three quarters arm slot at release. Clean glove actions with a deliberate glove to hand exchange into throws. From the infield shows and compact, high three quarters arm action with a slightly uphill arm stroke. Shows good first step angles to each side with developing glove actions. High energy player who hustles. Very good student as well.
