Michael Ruggiero is a 2017 SS/RHP/3B with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Smithtown, NY who attends Smithtown East HS. Medium, athletic build with broad shoulders and a lean, projectable frame and room to fill out with additional strength. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, shows athletic actions with short steps to the ball, quick hands and transfers, low slot on accurate throws across, arm strength will continue to develop. Also pitched, throws from a three-quarter arm slot, with a short and tight arm circle in back, hiding the ball well. Stays tall on backside and shows a smooth, repeatable delivery, spins towards first base at release. Gets arm side run on fastball down in the zone, topped at 79 mph, flashed an 11-5 curveball at 66 mph. Right-handed hitter, starts with an upright stance and a high back elbow. Upper body swing, generates some lift at contact and gets the barrel through, creating line drive contact. Feel to hit to opposite field and projects with incorporation of lower half. Good student.
