Ian Gehres is a 2017 C/RHP/3B with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Plain City, OH who attends Jonathan Alder HS. Gehres has a medium sized frame with an athletic build. Defensively he stands to throw on his pop throws and doesn't gain ground. Gehres has a short arm action with fairly quick transfers and release. He has developing catch and throw actions with arm strength up to 72 MPH on his pop throws. At the plate, Gehres starts with a slightly open stance and uses a late load to start his swing. He has a high back elbow and swings on a line drive plate, Gehres showed some barrel skills and has some smoothness to his swing. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. He stays online and works on a downhill plane. Gehres throws a change up at 74 MPH with some sink to it. Very good student.
