John Rodriguez is a 2017 RHP/2B with a 5-11 143 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Lake Travis HS. Compact, lean frame with developing build and strength. High energy delivery with high leg lift, can open early and fall off at times. Longer, loose arm action with slight wrap, works through to high 3/4 arm slot. Worked in mid-70's and ran fastball up to 77 mph. Mixed in a pair of breaking balls in a low-60's CB that flashed solid 11/5 shape, and a sharper high-60's slider. Also plays in middle infield, shows solid actions and moves well laterally at 2B. At the plate uses a spread stance and calm setup. Flashes feel for barrel and downhill swing path. Should improve as continues to fill out and add strength to frame. Outstanding student.
