2018 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
David Novak is a 2021 C/IF/RHP with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Zionsville, IN who attends Zionsville HS. Tall strong build with more room to grow and fill out. Ran a 7.45 sixty. Behind the plate uses a low straight stance. Showed a quick transfer and good arm strength posting a 2.00 pop time and topping out at 76 miles per hour behind the plate from a over the top short arm action. Showed developing footwork behind the plate. Also worked out in the infield. Used a out front funnel. Showed impressive hands throughout the entire workout. Employs a deeper release in throws with good arm strength topping out at 86 miles per hour across the infield. Right handed hitter. Uses a upright stance with high hands and a high back elbow set up. Showed ability to create leverage at contact with a pull side power approach. Flashed plus pull side power during batting practice. Also pitched at the event. Showed a short arm action with the ball behind his head creating some deception along with polished mechanics. Utilized a fastball with some late life topping out at 85 miles per hour complemented by a tight slider with late break that topped out at 75 miles per hour. Filled up the zone and got a lot of swings and misses. Named to 2018 Underclass Main Event Top Prospect List. Good Student.
