Drew Hefner is a 2017 C/3B with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Bridgeport, WV who attends Bridgeport. Smaller frame with solid, athletic frame. Frame projects for additional strength with continued maturity. Ran a 7.41 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher with a low, athletic set and good hip flexion while setting up to receive. Soft, strong hands while receiving the baseball throughout the zone. Gains ground while working out of crouch with explosive footwork. Flashed solid arm strength from a compact slot topping at 77 mph. Throws generated accurate, on line carry to the bag. Best workout pop time of 1.93. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance. Showed good linear shift from the lower half into contact. Hands are quick and clean to contact creating and line drive plane with slight lift through extension. Swings with intent to drive the baseball deep into the gaps but maintains balanced throughout. Turns the barrel to baseball well consistently producing hard, rising line drive to the pull side gap. Repeated swing mechanics well throughout batting practice. Very good student. Named to the 2016 Ohio Valley Showcase Top Prospect List.
