Will De Vries is a 2017 RHP with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Hiawassee, GA who attends Towns County High School. Large frame, lean, slender build, long limbs, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.25 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, rocker step into delivery, leg lift past waist, hip turn, stayed tall through backside, and threw from a high three quarter arm slot. Utilized a long, slightly rigid arm action. Generated good extension down the mound with a slightly crossfire element. Fastball worked 80-81 mph with developing arm speed. Works downhill well with fastball. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with depth and maintained arm speed. Showed changeup as well at 75 mph. At the plate, started with an open base, wide stance, deeper hand load, and a toe tap timing mechanism. Balanced at point of contact with a line drive swing plane. Torques well through lower half working all fields with low effort. Ability to impact the ball off the barrel with carry. Exceptional student.
