Merik Carter is a 2022 2B/RHP/IF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Christiana, TN who attends Rockvale. Lean athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. Left handed hitter, hits from an open stance, gets closed well and uses his lower half to help generate bat speed, has good hands and a loose and fluid swing with extension and bat speed, hits with confidence and shows both patience and aggressiveness in his approach, chance to be a high level hitter if he can continue to get stronger. 7.62 runner in the sixty. Has sound fundamental actions on defense in the middle infield, athletic footwork with good balance through the ball, gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws. Also pitched, high leg raise delivery with a 3/4's arm slot, hides the ball effectively, has fast hips that help drive his delivery. Fastball topped out at 81 mph with nice sink and running life, showed very good feel for a sweeping slider with good depth, threw strikes with both pitches and had a very clean outing. Nice player who could really come on if he can continue to get stronger. Very good student.
