Justin Vaught is a 2017 RHP/3B, OF with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Gilbert, AZ who attends Williams Field HS. Large, athletic frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable build. Short and compact delivery, gets tall on backside before coming to plate with good direction. Works with a short arm action through the back and a tight, high three-quarter release point. Creates good downhill plane on fastball to bottom of zone, topped out at 78 mph, mostly true in life, shows command of the zone. Curveball shows 11-5 shape with good depth and tight rotation while maintaining arm speed well, slows slightly on straight changeup at 68 mph. Competes on mound. Long strides in the infield, fields the ball out front, some effort at release, short arm action through back with accuracy across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a high hand set. Leg lift trigger for timing, upper body swing with a line drive swing plane. Length to swing but has a feel for the barrel and gets it to the ball, creates contact to the middle and pull side parts of field. Very good student.
