Mike Shaw is a 2006 RHP with a 6'3'', 208 lb. frame from Dawsonville, Georgia, who attends North Forsyth High School. He is a tall and durable pitcher with a strong lower half. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long arm circle on the back side. Shaw has solid mechanics and works quickly on the mound with nice tempo. He is a very aggressive pitcher that attacks the hitters going right at them. His is a power pitcher whose fastball topped out at 85 mph with sinking action. He also mixes in a 75 mph breaking ball with sharp bite that can be a strikeout pitch for him at the next level. Shaw has good control of both pitches and keeps the ball low in the zone. Shaw showed his toughness when he got hit by a pitch while he was pitching and he stayed on the mound. He competes. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a balanced swing and a quiet approach. He has good bat speed through the hitting zone, and shows raw power. Shaw is a two-way prospect, and is a good student as well.
