Dylan Strater is a 2018 C/3B/MIF with a 5-8 170 lb. frame from Frisco, TX who attends Liberty HS. Medium frame with a lean build and wiry strength. Primary catcher with a even, balanced stance while setting up to receive. Gains ground while working out of crouch and generated solid on line momentum. Quick, clean exchanges and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Throws created downhill carry to the bag topping at 77 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.96. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while rounding the baseball. Funnels from a deeper position and worked through exchange with deliberate, clean actions. Released from a high three-quarters slot producing stiff carry to the bag, topped at 85 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, slightly crouched stance and high back elbow set. Works to contact on a simple, direct path with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Flashed some lift when working to contact out front. Stays balanced and behind contact while consistently drive the baseball to the middle of the field between the gaps. Good student as well.
