2017 PG Fall Top Prospect National Showcase
Allen Grier is a 2019 OF/LHP, 1B with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Atlanta, GA who attends Riverwood HS. Recorded a 6.84 second 60-yard dash time. Medium, lean frame with present quick twitch athleticism. Primary outfielder with a good first step and smooth fielding actions. Good carry on throws with a very strong arm recorded up to 87 mph. Quick and confident steps to the ball and works through the ball well into release. Secondary lefthanded pitcher and lands online toward the plate. Drives down the mound well with a drop and drive lower half approach. Three-quarters arm slot with an up tempo delivery. Fastball flashes plane when in the lower third of the strike zone. Sweeping break to a 1/7 curveball and the pitch was its best when buried low in the strike zone. Lots of strikes and pounded the zone to either side well. Flashed a changeup. Lefthanded hitter with an upright stance. High hand set and a high back elbow with a linear swing path. Quickness to hands and projects well. Room for additional strength and consistently on time. Smooth swing with active hands and some bat speed. Named to the 2017 PG Fall Top Prospect National Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student.
