Julian Caravantes is a 2016 SS/3B, 2B with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends La Jolla Country Day HS. Medium, athletic build with broad shoulders and present strength, shows twitch to overall actions. Ran a 7.05 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, moves well on feet and shows athleticism in actions, fields the ball out front and funnels well, hands play at base, has footwork, short arm action on throws across, arm strength will continue to develop. Right-handed hitter, starts with a high hand set and uses a small leg lift trigger to transfer weight forward. Generates nice bat speed through the zone, occasionally gets rotational but shows a patient approach and consistent jump off the barrel. Sound swing pattern with natural leverage in swing, creates carry to all fields with feel for the barrel. Named to West Coast Top Prospect List. Verbal commitment to Pennsylvania. Very good student.
