Alex Maldonado is a 2018 2B/3B/OF with a 5-8 185 lb. frame from Trophy Club, TX who attends Byron Nelson High School. Younger player with a medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.50 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary middle infielder, short footwork to the ball, moved well to both sides, fielded with two hands, and showed developing accuracy. Raw arm strength up to 78 mph. At the plate, started with an upright stance, open base, high hand set, deeper weight shift, and a high leg lift timing mechanism. Inside hand path with strength to drive the ball in the air. Looks to get extended for pitches thrown away with a power approach. Swing works primarily through upper half and will continue to improve with lower half incorporation.
