Johnson is a slender 6-0, 140 lb senior right handed pitcher from North Carolina. He ran 7.81 in the 60 and threw 72 during infield drills but did not hit in the games. Johnson has a full rotational, back turn delivery with an extended arm action and 3/4's release point. His fastball was 78-79 mph with some tailing action. Johnson's secondary pitch was a 60-65 mph curveball with a rolling break. We didn't see a change up. Johnson pitched to the outside half of the plate as much as possible with both pitches and tried to get hitters to reach for the ball. He projects to add some velocity with any future strength gains. Johnson is also an excellent student.
