Michael Defelippi is a 2018 LHP/OF with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Cathedral Catholic HS. Large frame with a lean build. Very projectable frame. Left handed pitcher with a leg lift delivery while creating some spin tilt back at balance. Gets on line well while drive to the plate and creates solid downhill angle. Smooth, easy release from a mid three-quarters arm slot that produces very good angle. Fastball produces plus arm side life in the upper 70's to low 80's. Changeup has very good, deceptive arm speed with fading action in the mid 70's. Pounds downhill with both fastball and changeup offerings with the ability to spot up on both edges of the plate. Left handed hitter with a spread, straight stance and high back elbow set. Compact, direct path with a line drive swing plane. Shows quick hands and present bat speed through extension. Solid barrel skills throughout the zone and consistently squared up contact to the middle of the field. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing good arm strength with a clean arm action, topped at 86 mph. Throws produced accurate on line carry to the bag. Smooth, fundamental footwork while working through the baseball. Very solid two way prospect. Good student as well.
