Owen Jansen is a 2017 SS/IF with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Oakville, ON who attends Iroquois Ridge HS. Has a medium frame, medium build, with room to keep filling out physically. Posted a 6.91 sixty yard dash. From the infield, showed a quality aggressive approach through the baseball with good lateral range to both sides. He stays down through the baseball with smooth actions while fielding the ball out front and showing quick transfers into throws. Displayed quick arm action on throws and did a nice job of staying on top of throws generating good carry on accurate throws. At the plate, left-handed hitter that starts with an wide base, high hand set, and high back elbow. Showed off good bat speed and quick hands from a short, compact swing on a line drive swing plane that stays balanced throughout. Showed polished hitting tools that should translate into a well executed, high average approach. Good student. Named to 2016 Sunshine East Top Prospect List.
