Matthew Nicholas is a 2017 IF/RHP with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from San Marcos, TX who attends New Braunfels Christian Aca HS. Large frame, athletic build, clear sign of present strength. From the outfield, long arm action on throws, had solid carry to bases. From the infield, good movement and actions, solid range to glove side. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with a narrow stance and a high back elbow. Has a short compact swing and a line drive swing plane. Looks to drive the ball back up the middle. Showed solid bat speed and some raw pull side power. Aggressive base runner, has great jumps. From the mound, threw from a 3/4 arm slot. Fastball had some arm side run. Fastball was up to 83 MPH. Excellent student. Named to Top Prospect List.
