Mason Vasquez is a 2022 3B/RHP with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Robstown, TX who attends Calallen. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders, long limbs and a higher waist; projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.96 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front, wide base with lower half, shorter steps moving towards the ball, funnels into a shorter arm action, around the bag with throws, can continue to get additional lower half incorporated into release. Also pitched, full hands over head delivery during rock step, gathers over back side well with high leg lift above belt. Works to a lower three-quarters release point and creates steady life to fastball with sink down in zone, topped out at 77 mph and projects for more with drive out of his lower half. Able to induce ground ball contact with life, throws strikes and mixed an 11-5 shaped breaking ball at 63 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Simple swings mechanics and shows ability to repeat them, short through the zone with swing path. Good sound coming off the barrel and shows jump when squared, creates contact out front.
