2017 PG Fall Top Prospect National Showcase
Drew Mason is a 2020 C/1B, 3B with a 6-0 191 lb. frame from Spartanburg, SC who attends Spartanburg High School. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, present strength to frame with additional room to fill. Ran a 6.92 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, does a nice job of receiving the ball out front, shows quickness to arm action with a tight release from ear on throws down to second base, upright release and can continue to incorporate lower half into action, higher slot on accurate throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box, loads hands back at start of swing and utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Shows an inside and direct path to the ball, gets the barrel to it well and showed ability to work all fields. Shifts weight well through lower half and utilizes a line drive approach, gets to the gaps well. Very good student.
