Grant Gambrell is a 2016 RHP/1B with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Clovis, CA who attends Buchanan HS. Very physical and athletic build, well proportioned and could probably get stronger but doesn't need to. Big side step and leg raise delivery, drop and drive to the plate, loose and extended arm action with a fast arm coming through, high frontside arm, 3/4's to high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball to 92 mph, mostly straight but can ride it up in the zone over barrels and locate it to both sides of the plate. Nice change up with deception and life, pulls the string well. Flashes good depth on a slurve type breaking ball, occasional 11/5 plane on occasion, still developing feel for breaking ball consistency and location. Had some bad swings against and was a tough at-bat. Good student, verbal commitment to Oregon State.
