Benjamin Casparius is a 2017 SS/RHP/3B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Westport, CT who attends Staples HS. Big and strong athletic build. Third base profile on defense, tends to bend at the waist fielding the ball but fields it out front, very good arm strength and carry on his throws, well balanced charging the ball. Right handed hitter, balanced straight leg stance, early stride and drift to contact, strong swing with some back side dip at times to create lift, hit to the middle of the field with loud contact, lots of power potential. Has pitched often in the past and been up to 91 mph, likely a two-way player candidate at the college level. Good student, verbal commitment to North Carolina.
