Reid Black is a 2017 RHP/SS with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Sugar Land, TX who attends Clements HS. Tall angular build with lots of room to get stronger. Deep arm circle, high 3/4's arm slot with some lean off the plate, inconsistent direction at present, low effort release, arm works well coming through. Upper 70's fastball, topped out at 80 mph, very good arm side running action at times and broke some bats. Throws lots of sliders, gets nice consistent bite with medium depth, has a feel for throwing his slider for strikes and was effective. Projects to continue to gain velocity. Right handed hitter, tall stance with a calm hitting approach, short contact swing, best on the inside half of the plate. Third base actions defensively. Good student.
