2005 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
Leonard is a lithe and live bodied 5-8, 160 lb outfielder from Florida with excellent athletic ability. He can really run, recording a 6.76 time in the 60 on the wet track and consistently running big league times down to first base and causing havoc on the bases. Leonard also used his speed well in the outfield, getting good jumps and running down some balls in the gaps. Leonard’s throwing matched his range in the outfield as he showed solid college level arm strength at 85 mph in workouts. Leonard also worked out in the infield and looked pretty good there defensively as well. The biggest question with Leonard is his bat. He’s not strong enough now to generate top bat speed but has a good awareness of his tools and was a willing and very skilled bunter. Leonard can run and play defense at a high level right now and should have plenty of college coaches interested him with those tools. He can play and could develop into a high level leadoff hitter.
