Cole Shelton is a 2017 2B/RHP,/3B with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Dalton, GA who attends Dalton HS. Medium, athletic frame with present strength and additional room to fill out moving forward. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, hands play well at ball out front, smooth transfer into a quick release, fast arm action generate present arm strength and carry across the diamond, has some effort out of the hand. Also pitched, works with a short and quick arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point with effort at release. Lands online with front foot and does a nice job of generate sharp downhill plane to fastball, topped at 82 mph with occasional running life. Maintains velocity well and mixes in a strong curveball with hard depth, shows similar arm speed to fastball. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and lowers hands at start of swing. Short swing with an inside path, shows feel for the barrel and strength coming off. Pull side hitter, consistent contact off the barrel with nice bat speed through the zone, will continue to add strength with additional extension to swing. Outstanding student.
